PRECISION TRIGGER WORK

Trigger Jobs

A better trigger is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make to any firearm. Dave has been performing trigger jobs for years — polishing internals, installing quality aftermarket components, and test-firing every gun before it goes back to the customer.

Note: It's recommended that you bring a magazine and at least 20 rounds of factory ammo so Dave can test fire and adjust the gun. Turn around time is usually 10 days depending on work load and other commitments.

GLOCK Combat Trigger Job

GLOCK pistol trigger components

Whenever Dave measures the trigger pull of a stock GLOCK pistol, it's typically between 7 to 9 pounds depending on how broken-in the gun is. By polishing out the trigger components and installing a competition connector and 6-lb trigger spring, the trigger pull is smoother and reduced to 5–6 pounds. This is a very comfortable range for accurate fire, plus there's enough weight on the trigger to prevent negligent discharges. This combination also maintains complete reliability in the gun, ensuring safe and accurate fire.

Hyve Technologies Trigger

Hyve Technologies flat aluminum trigger for GLOCK

Hyve Technologies makes a wide, flat target trigger CNC machined from aluminum with a very comfortable feel. The safety tang compresses flat with the trigger so you don't get that uncomfortable blade feel like the stock trigger. It also has adjustments for both pre-travel and post-travel so you can take out a lot of the slop. The trigger alone doesn't reduce the trigger pull, so Dave polishes out the trigger components and includes a competition connector and trigger spring — reducing the pull down into the 5–6 pound range and smoothing out the feel.

CZ-75 Trigger Job

CZ-75 P-01 pistol

Cajun Gunworks and M-Carbo both make excellent trigger kits for both duty and competition applications. It's recommended that they be installed by a qualified gunsmith with internal polishing performed during the installation process. These companies also sell both flat and curved triggers for different types of shooting and personal tastes. For accuracy work, Dave is partial to their flat triggers, which improve feel and trigger control for long shots. Installation price depends on which kit you choose and whether your CZ is equipped with a manual safety or decocker.

S&W Revolver Trigger Job

Smith & Wesson revolver

Revolver trigger jobs consist of polishing internal parts and reducing the strength of both the hammer spring and trigger rebound spring. It's important to maintain enough spring strength to avoid light hits on the primers — reliability is key. Polishing generally makes the double-action trigger pull smooth and even. Dave uses Wilson Combat spring kits in all of his revolver trigger jobs.

S&W Shield, M&P, SDVE, Sigma & M&P 2.0

Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm pistol

For the S&W Shield, M&P, SDVE, Sigma, and M&P 2.0 models, Apex Tactical makes a variety of triggers and trigger enhancement kits. Dave has been installing them for years. The triggers come in a variety of colors and configurations — flat-face, duty-carry curved, forward reset enhanced, and others. For Smith & Wesson pistols, Apex Tactical is tops.

SIG Sauer P-Series Trigger Job

SIG Sauer P220 pistol

The double-action on the SIG P-Series pistols is notoriously heavy and often gritty — 10 to 12 pound trigger pulls are not unusual. A good trigger job entails a lighter hammer spring and polishing of the hammer strut, hammer, trigger bar, sear, and safety lever. Dave has been a Certified SIG Armorer since November 1, 2009 and has worked on many P-Series pistols.

Springfield XD & Hellcat Trigger Job

Springfield XD pistol

For the Springfield XD pistol, Dave typically uses either a Springer Precision or a Powder River trigger kit. Both are good but need fitting and adjustments when installed. They also offer several trigger configurations (curved vs flat) and different levels of trigger pull (duty vs competition). What's unique about Springer Precision is that they make their own trigger bars, while Powder River uses the factory trigger bar. Bring the kit you want installed along with 25 rounds of factory ammo (no reloads) and Dave will install, test fire, and adjust your trigger.
